We are done with the Christmas and New Year's celebrations, and the next thing on our minds is Valentine's Day.
While some people are eagerly looking forward to the one-day celebration which has been aptly dubbed "lovers' day," some people however dread it.
This probably because this group of people are afraid to spend such a lovely day alone, not having a special somebody to hangout with and show some love.
If you fall into that category, then worry no more. Here are 13 best reasons why its totally fine to be single on Valentine's Day:
- You don't have to pretend to like some guy's silly drugstore gift: "Wow. This bear wearing a bowtie and holding a box of chocolates that are probably from 2012 because most chain stores don't always check the expiration dates is for me? Uh, thank you." — Girl, you don't have to be.

- There's no pressure to have amazing sex: When you're part of a couple on Valentine's Day, there's this unspoken pressure to go home and have some kind of Boyz II Men "I'll Make Love to You" passion-filled sex for the day to have been considered a success. When you're single, even if you just watch a movie you like and eat popcorn, you're like, "This day ruled."
- You don't have to stress about what to get for someone you've been seeing for, like, a month: This is why most ladies hate meeting anyone they're interested in within two months of Valentine's Day.
- You don't have to spend N5000 on a crappy prix-fixe dinner that wasn't even that good: There's nothing quite like eating a tiny bowl of food drenched in some weird sauce that, even though it's delicious, you still need to eat (real food) right after because you're still starving.
- You can do whatever the heck you want: You're not stuck compromising on date-night plans that may or may not suck because you are the captain of your own ship.
- If you go out to a bar, you're guaranteed that all the guys there are single: And that's guaranteed because even if they had girlfriends, if they're not with them on Valentine's Day, they're probably going to know what's up.
- You don't have to share your Valentine's Day candy: "Two whole chocolate bars" is the portion size for one person. One. These are facts.
- You don't need to buy overpriced chocolate: And you of all people benefit from those sweet, sweet post-Valentine's Day chocolate discounts.
- You can bond with your other single friends: It doesn't even have to be about romantic love. It can be about, like, noodles or something. Your shared love of noodles.
- No pressure to having an amazing, meaningful, soul-touching date night: Even the idea of trying to do this, that makes you both feel like your souls are truly intertwined just so you can prove how much you're connected, should be enough to make you psyched you're single.
- You can do what you really want to do, which is see Fifty Shades in theaters with your friends: You know, it opens that night for a reason.
